Q: Are the Residential Crisis Stabilization Units co-ed or gender specific?

A: All of our properties are currently co-ed; however, we have gender specific bedrooms. 

 

Q: Does Serenity Counseling Services of Virginia accommodate individuals with physical disabilities?

A: Yes! Our Church Hill location has a handicap accessible room on the first floor where we can accommodate individuals with mobility issues. At this time, we cannot accommodate individuals with a wheelchair. 

 

Q: Will this program be staffed around the clock?

A: Yes, all of our Residential Crisis Stabilization Units are staffed 24/7 with a 1:3 staff-client ratio. In addition, we have our case managers/QMHPs, clinicians/LMHPs, and other support staff that are present in the program on varying schedules throughout the week. 

 

Q: Who can receive services in this program?

A: Individuals with a mental health diagnosis that are experiencing non-acute mental health symptoms which are negatively impacting their daily functions and quality of life are eligible for crisis services. 

 

Q: What is the criteria for someone to receive services here?

A: Any mental health and/or substance abuse diagnosis that is not acute. 

Q: What disqualifies someone from participating in Residential Crisis services?

A: Active suicidal or homicidal ideations. Aggressive behaviors. Unwillingness to comply with program rules. 

 

Q: Do you all support individuals who need housing?

A: Serenity Counseling Services of Virginia does not directly support with housing; however, our partner agency, The LEAF Project, offers a Temporary Supportive Housing program where individuals who have income can stay for up to 24 months. While enrolled in the LEAF Project participants will learn important life skills such as budgeting, time management, conflict resolution, and household maintenance. They will also receive assistance in setting and achieving goals related to employment, education, and overall well-being.

 

Q: What insurances do you accept?

A: We currently accept the following Medicaid insurances: Aetna Better Health of Virginia, Anthem Healthkeepers Plus, Medicaid of Virginia, Molina Complete Care, Sentara Health Plans. 

 

Q: Can individuals self-pay for services?

A: Yes! Self-pay individuals will pay for services based on a sliding income scale. 

 

Q: How can I support this program?

A: We gladly accept all donations of bedding (twin XL white sheet sets), towels/washcloths (all white), under garments (bras, underwear, socks; new only), hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, etc.), and consumable products (toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, plastic cups, etc.). We also welcome all monetary donations that can be used to purchase these items for the individuals served in the program.
